When Mardoqueo Charuc captured this action shot of his then 2-year-old son, Micah, at the Wolfe Park amphitheater, he was following him around with his camera hoping for the right moment.
“He loves to explore all around the park, and one of his favorite things to do is go up and down the stairs,” says Charuc, who has lived in St. Louis Park for almost two years. “I like this picture not only because of the shades on the stairs and the way the light hits his clothes but also because of the way it reflects how much fun he was having on something so simple like the stairs.”
Charuc’s photo won first place in the People & Families category in our 2015 photo contest and was snapped with his Canon EOS Rebel T5i. He has been taking photos since he was a teenager, but has taken a stronger interest in the last few years.
Charuc loves living in the Park. “I like the wide variety of things to do around the community, like Westwood Nature Center, the Aquatic Center, and the different events throughout the year,” he says. “[We especially enjoy] Parktacular, the free concerts in the summer, and the trick or treating at the Shops at West End.”
