Two of the things that Minnesota is most famous for—ice and art—come together in the Art Shanty Projects at Lake Harriet (Bde Unma).
A collection of on-ice art installations that resemble a group of ice-fishing houses, the Art Shanty Project has been a Twin Cities favorite since 2007. After several years on White Bear Lake, the project had its first year on Lake Harriet (Bde Unma) last year, and has returned this season.
Shanty titles include -7° Entry Danceteria, The Archive of Apologies and Pardons, Glass Half _____, The Holding Shanty, Ice Lawn, Infrare, Monarch Migration Shanty, NautiCult: A Cautionary Tale of an Arctic Shipwreck, Rocky the Rockin’ Sea Shanty, Seedbank, The Shanty of People Who Know Things, Flora Sauna, Temple of Agency and Star Light, Star Bright.
