You Betcha! Time for Summer Fun

If this heat wave we're having has you thinking about the Minnesota State Fair -- stop! We love the Fair, but that means summer is winding down. Instead, think about the You Betcha! Minnesota Made Festival happening on Saturday, July 26 from 5 p.m. to midnight at the Shops at West End. A true tradition in the making, this year's event promises more than ever before. Enjoy Minnesota food trucks from some of your local favorites, beer (for the 21+ crowd) and live music. Read more about You Betcha! Time for Summer Fun

Let it Rain

No need to say any more about the wet summer weather we have been having, other than the fact that there are a few upcoming St. Louis Park events that won't let rain dampen anyone's spirits. Fingers crossed that skies will be crystal clear and bug-free. Read more about Let it Rain

Honor Our Veterans

After the less-than-stellar spring we've experienced, it's hard to believe the unofficial first weekend of summer is practically here -- the good news is the weather is supposed to be lovely. In the midst of the long-awaited yardwork, backyard barbecues and other family events, it's also an opportunity to stop and celebrate Memorial Day by honoring those who have selflessly served our country. Meet Young St. Louis Park Authors

More than 30 St. Louis Park High School students in grades 9-12 submitted original stories to a contest sponsored last fall by St. Louis Park based Verona Publishing; now the top 10 contest winners have officially become published authors. The title of the anthology is The Lantern of Truth, which is also the title of the first-place winning story by St. Louis Park High School student Claire Tollefsrud. Other stories featured in the collection include "Lucky Find" by Maggie Lingner, "Dear Mama" by Ryan McCanna and "Wood Wanderers", written by Rachel Tollefsrud, Claire's sister. Beautiful Music

One of these days, we'll all be in the mood to do some spring cleaning.  If you come across an old band instrument in your closet that is no longer making music in your household, Jim Rhodes can help you out. Rhodes, an alto saxophone player in the St. Louis Park Community Band, is one of the passionate forces behind their Gift of Music program and has helped collect close to 500 instruments since the program began. Chill Out

If it's true what they say and we really might be in for a "thaw" later in February, that would be a delight. But we know better -- don't count our snowballs before they melt. However, polar vortex or no, there are definitely some fun winter activities ready to be enjoyed in St. Louis Park this month, both indoors and outdoors: Read more about Chill Out
