November: Editor's Note

The holiday season is quickly approaching, and no matter your age or time of life, each year has the power to remind us of special memories of the past or offer us opportunities to create new and lasting memories. We might not spend much time thinking about our favorite holiday treats in the month of July, but sure enough, once November and December roll around, we are excited to gather the ingredients and plan for the coming holiday meals. Art in the Park

This weekend, art blossoms and blooms (yep,
even in October!) at The Shops at West End. Don’t miss the fun as the St. Louis
Park Friends of the Arts (FOTA) unveil a community mosaic, carefully composed
of the individual artwork of 100 St. Louis Park residents.

During this past summer, FOTA organized several
workshops where community members gathered to create personal mosaics, all
based on the mandala design, a spiritual symbol common in Hindu and Buddhist

Laurie Berkner Visits St. Louis Park

If you've got preschoolers or elementary-age kids, you know that Laurie Berkner is a pretty big deal. The nationally renowned children's musician brings her You and Me Tour to St. Louis Park on October 26, presented by Beth El Synagogue and the Shirley R. Abelson Aleph Preschool. Snag your tickets soon: Concert organizers are expecting seats to sell out quickly. And, if your little ones are true kindie-rock fans, consider the VIP package, which includes a meet-and-greet with Laurie after the show.

Cancer Research Fundraising Run

Spending time in the great outdoors and giving back to a good cause are two of our favorite things! Put ‘em together this Saturday at a fundraising run for the Randy Shaver Cancer Research and Community Fund. Ryan Franz, owner of St. Louis Park’s HIT Results Fitness, will lead a fun Saturday-morning run and cardio workout at Ainsworth Park. The cost to participate is $5, and all proceeds go to the fund, says Franz. Read more about Cancer Research Fundraising Run
