The collective groan you might hear the next time you go shopping is the sound of kids spotting the “back to school” displays at local stores. Ready or not, all St. Louis Park students need an assortment of school supplies when they head back to class in a few weeks. For some families, finding the money to purchase these essential items can be challenging, which is why the St. Louis Park Emergency Program (STEP) Annual Back to School Program is asking for your help. As you are shopping for your own kids and their back-to-school necessities, consider picking up a few items for STEP’s drive, which will be held through August 17. When you drop off the school supplies at STEP, you will receive a tax-deductible receipt. Donations are accepted at STEP, 6812 West Lake St. in St. Louis Park during the following hours: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday: 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday: noon- 8 p.m. Friday: 8 a.m. - noon To help you with your shopping, here are a few items that STEP is requesting: Green, yellow and purple 2-pocket folders without prongs, wide-ruled spiral notebooks in red and yellow, fabric book covers, 12-count Crayola colored pencils, highlighters and tape. There are also several items that STEP is not collecting including erasers, multi-subject notebooks, mechanical pencils and loose leaf paper. *Find the complete list of all requested and non-requested supplies at stepslp.org Volunteers ages 18 and over are also needed to sort, assemble and distribute the school supplies. For more information on volunteering, contact Julie Jergens – email@example.com All kids deserve to be prepared for school and have a great start to the new year. Your donation of school supplies can make that happen for many St. Louis Park students.
