Whether you’re grabbing an after-work drink or looking for an affordable date night, City Lakes has plenty of great happy hour options. We’ve picked some standouts below, so grab a seat at the bar, order a drink and some apps and don't sweat the bill.

Call ahead or go online to check for menu and/or pricing updates at our suggested happy hour locations.

Daily 4-6 p.m. & 11p.m.-1 a.m., limited menu happy hour from 2:30-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday

With extended weekend hours, this is one of the more consumer-friendly happy hours in the area. Visit from 4-6 p.m. on weekdays or 2:30-6 p.m. on weekends for $3.50 taps, $5 for a glass of house wine (or $20 for a bottle) and a bevy of appetizers including oysters ($2.50 each) and smoked chicken liver pate with bacon marmalade ($8)—not your typical happy hour fare.

They also serve up a unique $5 cocktail each day during happy hour. When we visited, the What Happens in Costa Rica was on offer—white rum, cointreau, coconut and lime.

Nightingale is the perfect happy hour date spot—the upscale atmosphere will make you feel much fancier than the affordable prices imply.

Our recommendation: Grab a burger for $10—a thick beef patty is served California style with tomato, lettuce and aioli. It’s fresh, filling and comes with a side of fries. Add on a Hamm’s for only $1 and relive the days of your youth.

Lake and Irving
Monday-Friday, 3-6 p.m.

One of our editors recently selected Lake and Irving’s burger as the best in the city. While you won’t find that on the happy hour menu, you can choose from unique options like furikake chicken (think Japanese fried chicken), barn burner fries (featuring super-hot ghost chili aioli and cayenne pepper powder) or fried brussels sprouts.

On the drink side, you can’t go wrong with a $4 Size 7, the flagship beer of St. Louis Park brewery Steel Toe. House wines are also on special for $6, and if you're looking to cut loose after a long workday, order up a couple of Slammy Hagars—a tequila shot with pineapple juice and Pacifico, 2 for $10.

Happy hour fills up fast, so try to get there early and beat the dinner rush.

Our recommendation: An order of furikake chicken goes great with crisp, flavorful truffle fries (and at $6 for each dish, you’re getting a full meal for a great price). Wash it down with a Size 7 for an authentic City South experience.
